Who cares? Why does it matter?
There is so much big, hard, important stuff happening in the world. Why does it matter whether your kitchen counter is crammed or your closet has stuff in it you haven't worn since 2014? There is real suffering happening out there. Is it really going to make a difference that you have an extra set of casserole dishes?
On the grand scale, I don't know. I don't know if it will change the course of history for you to purge your kitchen cabinets. I think it's possible.
What I do know is that I am a more effective presence in the world when I am not surrounded by too much stuff. That letting go of things reminds me how fortunate I am. That having a (mostly) decluttered space is form of self-care for me. That there is value in having some clear space in a chaotic time.
And I also know that the clear space doesn't have to be perfect.
Maybe that's true for you, too.
If you are exploring to find some balance between Big Things in the wide world with Small Things in your world, you are not alone. I'm right there with you.
